PROGETTO BRAINSTORM: ISCRIVITI ORA

The application is now open on the WUG Torino 2025 website for the international phase of the BRAINstorm project, a special initiative of the Organising Committee of the Torino 2025 World University Winter Games.

Presented on 20 September 2022, on the occasion of the International Day of University Sport, the ‘challenge between brains’ aims to redefine the concept of the Universiade instituted by Primo Nebiolo in 1959, giving life to a competition between ‘athletes of the mind’ from all over the world who will compete in 9 new ‘disciplines of the mind’, proposed by Piedmontese universities, linked to the themes and challenges of the moment to be answered through projects and proposals.

Sustainability, Life, City, Energy, Inequality, Ageing, Food, Space, Democracy: up to 25 teams of four will participate in each discipline, competing against each other in a battle of ideas.

BRAINstorm has so far involved more than 15 Italian universities, and the call for entries now takes on an international dimension: until 14 June 2024, challengers for the first 33 teams will be sought, a maximum of 90 challengers will be selected (10 for each theme), and from 1 July to 31 August 2024, new projects will be chosen and announced on 6 September 2024 at www.wugtorino2025.com.

From 13 to 23 January 2025, in conjunction with the snow and ice sports competitions, the first medals of the World University Mind Games will be awarded.

This unique initiative in the panorama of international sports events is made possible by the contribution of the Turin Chamber of Commerce, allowing numerous students to experience the World University Mind Games 2025 as protagonists.

The #TO25 BRAINstorm challenge is divided into 2 phases:

– National phase (online, opening date: 18/05/2023 – closing date: 30/11/2023)

– International phase (ONLINE opening date: 20/05/2024 – closing date: 14/06/2024)

– Evaluation: 17/06/2024 – 19/07/2024

– Selected projects will be announced on 6 September 2024

All winners of the Brainstorm Challenge will have the opportunity to enter the Sprint Generation Challenge World Final.
